Prof. Dr. Gökhan Hotamışlıgil (June 24, 1962) Turkish doctor and scientist.
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ankara in 1986 and received his professor title from Harvard University in 2003. He studied on Obesity working on the molecular mechanisms of type 2 diabetes and the metabolic syndrome and hehas been working at Harvard University since 2005. Professor Dr. Gökhan Hotamışlıgil and his team discovered a hormone called “lipokin” that could stop diseases like diabetes and fatty liver.
He is also a member of the TUBA Nobel Foundation and the American Obesity Foundation.
