Czech Republic – VIP STEM Persons nr. 1 – František Křižík

František Křižík (1847 – 1941) is the most important Czech (Bohemian) inventor, He is famous especially because of his arch lamp “Plzen Lamp” which was displayed at 1881 in International Exposition in Paris. He patented this invention and won legal battle with Werner Siemens who declared to be first in this invention. His company in 1884 started to build tramway lines, power stations and various electric equipment.

One Prague underground station is named by him as well as the world famous Krizik fountain which is considered as one of the miracles of the technology.
