The capital of Bages (Barcelona) will live a very intense year, with more than 130 activities gathered in a program that carries the slogan Ponts de Cultura [Bridges of Culture]. Music, dance, theater, tradition, gastronomy or circus will show their best finery in Manresa during the next months.
The celebration has begun at the headquarters of the town councils and has continued with a parade through the city, which has concluded in front of the Teatre Kursaal. This space has hosted the inaugural show.
The mayor of the city, Valentí Junyent, has claimed the role of culture as a tool of cohesion and asks that it must be accessible to all so that there are no “first and second class citizens”. Junyent has also highlighted the role of medium-sized cities in preserving the country’s cultural wealth, its artists and its personality.
